I finished that pot of coffee a long time ago but I'm still buzzing from the energy on the project ... We are all a bit in shock.

For all of us on the team, this has been a tremendous first day!  I speak for the entire Black God’s Kiss team when I say a thunderous, emphatic THANK YOU. We’ve received such overwhelming, amazing support from our friends, family, and fellow artists today! In under twelve hours, we hit our funding goal and earned the coveted "Project We Love" accolade from Kickstarter. Additionally we’ve received so many messages of encouragement that our heads have been spinning all day with the cosmic horror—er, I mean love... 

Over 400 adventurous, incredible, generous people have already chosen to ensure this strange vision becomes reality! This has been an ambitious undertaking—the first of its kind for many of us—and we literally couldn't have done this without you. I am humbled and overwhelmed by your support.  It is difficult to express how excited I am to bring this box set into your homes! I hope you'll find it enjoyable and exciting, and become just as haunted by the story as I was. 

And we also know this is just the beginning...

As I'm writing this update, it's a bright warm day here in Minneapolis—where I’ll be through the end of the week—visiting family and friends. It feels strange not to be at home in Boston on the project’s first day … but life is strange! I'm halfway through my daily pot of coffee, and reflecting on the journey that has brought us all here.

After I first read “Black God’s Kiss,” in Peter Bebergal’s incredible fiction anthology, Appendix N: The Eldritch Roots of Dungeons and Dragons, I found myself haunted for months by the weird images. Eventually I approached Peter with the idea for licensing it to use in an RPG setting. Really, I just wanted to get the Black God’s star-lit realm out of my head and onto a gaming table as a way of exorcising its hold on me. But as the months rolled on after obtaining the license from C.L. Moore’s estate, and our team started to form, this more beautiful and phenomenal project started to take shape… and here we are!

I know many of you backed my previous project, Ekphrastic Beasts, and some of you have also been supporting the work to create new creatures every month over on the Blazing Worlds Patreon. I want to extend a special thanks to you—who have encouraged and inspired me to keep developing high premium, artist-driven gaming materials to share with others!

Also, as a special thank you to everyone who is backing this project in its first 24 hours at the Deluxe and Black God’s Bundle pledge tiers, we are giving away a free battle map of the Black God’s Temple. It will be provided as a folding physical map—scaled for use with 32mm miniatures—and as a VTT map compatible for online gaming.

In case you couldn’t guess, things are a bit chaotic in the first days of a new Kickstarter project, so we won’t be able to attend to everything immediately. But between myself and our project manager, Andrew, we will do our best to answer questions, update Stretch Goals, build out the FAQ section, and explain the rewards.

For now, I’ll just say that we have plenty more planned for this campaign:
